8 Years And Over 25,000 Views Later

Today marks eight years since I started my blog, and I have surpassed 25,000 worldwide page views as well. I am just going to use this post to discuss the changes I have made to the blog since I wrote my previous self-congratulatory post on my four-year blog anniversary, as well as some other things on my mind.

One of the biggest changes you may have noticed on my blog is that there is a consistent plethora of new posts. Since June 2018, I have been trying to post on an orderly schedule (every Monday afternoon). Ever since I came back from my vacation in Mexico last year, I felt like I caught a spark of imagination and creativity in a bottle. When I was writing about my adventures in Mexico, it was incredibly easy for me to write about other issues and events in my life. Therefore, I kept writing, and spaced out my posts so that I would release one every week. I told myself that I would only post on my blog when I felt like it, but with all these ideas swirling in my head stemming from my Mexico vacation, I just had to get them all out. Right now, I do feel myself running out of ideas again, but I hope that my upcoming cruise on the MSC Seaside and my trip to Jamaica will inject a booster shot of creativity in my head.

There has been a rapid improvement in the quality of my writing since I wrote my last anniversary post. I have measures in place to refine and correct my writing in order to maintain the flow and poise that my posts sorely need. I have also created a separate page on my blog that lists the best posts I have made from 2011 to now, and by reading those posts in chronological order, you can see for yourself how my writing has improved. I have also begun to use experiences that are more personal in the creation of my recent posts, as well as delve more into my mental well-being in order to show a more vulnerable side of me.

I have also started to write video game reviews. I have been an avid video gamer since I was in elementary school, and I have continued to play video games on a regular basis ever since. I feel like I can analyze a video game well enough, in its visuals, audio, and game-play to start writing reviews. This has helped to expand my creativity for this blog.

Since my last anniversary post, I have been able to share my blog to entirely new audiences, as well as to have those same new audiences discover my blog entirely by chance. Since I started my current job years ago, I finally had the courage to tell various co-workers about this blog, and I have received nothing more than positivity and encouragement. They tell me everything from reading my blog on public transit, to having another co-worker read my blog post aloud to others. I am starting to have more of those in-person conversations about my blog, and although it is still a bit weird to me, it has a sort of a fulfilling feeling within me.

To all the long-time readers of the blog, as well as the new readers and the people who stumble on to my blog on their phones while drunk, I would like to thank you for paying a visit. I would especially like to thank the people whom I have had in-person conversations about this blog, as it serves as a particular brand of warmness and encouragement for me to keep writing. I am lucky to be able to experience the things that I am experiencing and share it with the world. I never take this blog for granted, and I know that the life I am living can disappear in an instant. This blog is a gift for myself to share, and I hope I can continue to make readers' days a bit better through my writing.
