Quick Nintendo Switch Game Reviews (Part 2)

I created a post last year where I made quick reviews on a number of Nintendo Switch games. Now that I have played many more Switch games since then, I am going to write a second part of my series of quick Switch game reviews. My thoughts are limited to a paragraph or two. Let us get started...

My Thoughts Surrounding the Euro 2020 Final

bbc.com

I want to use this blog post to dump my thoughts about the events surrounding the Euro 2020 Final. There is no real point to this blog post, nor is there an underlying message or point I am trying to make. I am just tired of the predictable events that have happened, especially after the match. This brings me to talk about English football culture (and English culture in general).

June 2020 Update

Here is a quick update on what has been going on in my life since my last post.

As you have noticed, I have not posted anything since May 9th, 2021, when I said that I needed to post more content on my blog. I am not one to make excuses, but there has been many things going on.

When Life Leaves You Behind

This is going to be one of those posts where I talk about what is on my mind. I want to talk about some issues. I have not been feeling the best mentally, and I feel that could be due to a number of things.

Astral Chain: A Dystopian Nintendo Switch Experience

Astral Chain is a Nintendo Switch-exclusive action-adventure; beat 'em up style game developed by Platinum Games. Platinum Games developed games such as the Bayonetta Series, as well as Nier: Automata, which was one of my favorite games of the last generation of video game consoles. It is safe to say that Platinum Games have some experience in making a satisfying and critically acclaimed action-adventure game. Astral is a solid game, but I think the game falls short of being an outstanding game on the Switch.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury: Quick Thoughts

I am not going to spend much of this blog post talking about Super Mario 3D World other than the fact that this game is as enjoyable as any other 3D Mario game. I have already talked about games like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Odyssey, and the great things about those games are similarly prevalent in Super Mario 3D world. Super Mario 3D World has incredible level design, and nice graphics and audio to boot. I would rank Super Mario 3D World as the third best Mario game I have ever played, behind Super Mario Galaxy at #1, and Super Mario Odyssey at #2.

Montreal's MLS Rebrand: My Thoughts

I know this happened a couple of months ago, but the Montreal Impact's rebranding to Club De Foot Montreal had been weighing on my mind periodically between the time of the announcement and now. MLS rebrands are interesting to me. I am not for or against them, and my opinion of each MLS rebrand varies wildly. I think the best MLS rebrand was Kansas City's rebrand (from the Kansas City Wizards to Sporting KC). Kansas City's MLS rebrand felt like a complete attitude change from a club that presented itself so humorously (in my opinion) to a club that feels professional. The worst MLS rebrand was the Chicago Fire's unnecessary logo change in 2019 that ripped the colors from Real Salt Lake's logo.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - When Breath of the Wild Meets Dynasty Warriors

I finished playing Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for the Nintendo Switch. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity takes the gameplay from hack-and-slash, musou-style games such as Dynasty Warriors, and marries it with all of the other aspects from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I remember playing a little bit of the first Hyrule Warriors game and the developers crammed everything Zelda-related into a game with no real sense of direction. Now that Age of Calamity is a direct prequel to Breath of the Wild (set 100 years before the events of BotW) and has a competent story, the experience playing Age of Calamity feels more streamlined and immersive than its predecessor.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon - A Yakuza RPG

Yakuza: Like A Dragon is the latest entry in the Yakuza series developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios and published by Sega. I am happy to be jumping into the newest Yakuza game, but there have been a couple of massive changes to this game, compared to previous entries.

Ghost of Tsushima: Bloodshed Within The Beauty

Ghost of Tsushima is a Sony-exclusive video game developed by Sucker Punch (known for developing the Sly Cooper and Infamous video game series). This was a game nominated for numerous "Game of the Year" awards by many publications, and after playing the game, I can see why it deserved those nominations.

My Top 5 Games I Played In 2020

This is going to be a filler post on this blog. I am going to talk about the five best games I have played in 2020, ranked from five to one. Some of these games came out prior to 2020, but these were games I completed in 2020. My only rule is that I have not played any of these games before. Super Mario Galaxy would have been on this list, but I have played the game years before for the Nintendo Wii, so I am not including it. Let us get on with it then...

The Last of Us Part II Review (SPOILERS)

I just finished playing The Last of Us Part II and I have a lot to say, though it is not what you think I am going to address. I know there has been controversy surrounding this title in terms of its direction of the story and the well-being of the people behind making this title, but I believe there is another issue with The Last of Us Part II that I do not see many people address. The rest of this post will contain spoilers about the game, so read the rest of this post at your own discretion.
