COVID-19 Update: Travelling (Under Unusual Circumstances)

The year 2020 may be a write-off to many due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I am determined to try to make the most of it. There has been a significant reduction in daily cases in many provinces due to protective measures taken by various municipal and provincial governments across Canada. If it is unsafe to travel in the United States, then what better thing to do than to see more of the country I live in.

I will be in Mont-Tremblant in a few days, and then travelling to Ottawa for a bit, for a little mini-vacation of sorts. I have heard many good things about Mont-Tremblant in the winter as an excellent ski resort, but I am curious to see what the resort is like in the summer. I am obviously going to go up the mountain (on the gondola, there is no way I am hiking) and check out the views. There is a night walk with all kinds of different light pieces, so that is something I am also going to check out. In addition, there are many shops and restaurants in the European-style village in the resort. I have a feeling there is going to be a new batch of new content.

I have not been to Ottawa since 2017, and I already did all the tourist stuff back then. I will have to find something to do while I am there. I am thinking about going on a day cruise on the Rideau Canal, but I would also need to know what measures the boat companies are taking to reduce the spread of COVID-19. I am assuming that there will be a severe reduction on how many people will be able to board the boat.

People are so eager to travel outside Canada, and I do notice a small misconception that Canada is not exciting enough to explore. Although the COVID-19 pandemic is a truly awful thing to happen, I also think it opened the eyes of many Canadians to travel domestically. There is so much to see in Canada, and I am going to try to see what is in my own backyard, while keeping myself safe, as well as those around me.
