I just finished playing The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and I wanted to quickly talk about everything new about the game and give my brief thoughts on my experience.

It only took almost 30 years, but Echoes of Wisdom is the first Zelda game where you get to play as Princess Zelda, and you must go save Link this time, who is the gallant in distress. Zelda in her normal form cannot attack enemies or solve puzzles the way Link would, so the main gameplay loop is that Zelda can copy objects and enemies using her rod to create "echoes" which she can deploy to achieve those objectives. I personally like this different gameplay mechanic as it is fresh for the Zelda franchise. However, with well over 100 echoes Zelda can find and create, I wish there was a better way to select your echoes to deploy. You may have to exhaustingly scroll through a single horizontal list of echoes to find the one that you need.

Echoes of Wisdom does suffer from notable performance issues. They are nowhere near as bad as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but the frame rate always seems to slow down a bit whenever I do anything in the open world of the game. It did give me some headaches for a bit, but I was able to continue with the game.

Other than that, Echoes of Wisdom is still just as enriching a Zelda experience as any other main line Zelda titles. You have the freedom to go where you want. There are many dungeons, rifts, puzzles, and side quests you can do. The music and characters are great as well. You know what you are going to get every time you play a Zelda game, and Echoes of Wisdom is no different. Just like the remake of Link's Awakening, this gets the recommendation from me.
