Legends of Horror At Casa Loma

I had the pleasure of going to Casa Loma to partake in their 'Legends of Horror' event. 'Legends of Horror' is a theatrical experience where you go for a 2 km walk at your own pace through the Casa Loma grounds. Throughout the walk, you experience different sets with its own different scenes involving actors and props that create an unsettling and spooky setting.

The best thing about the 'Legends of Horror' walk is the general production value of the whole event. From walking through the Casa Loma grounds, it was evident that there was a great abundance of effort in order to make this event a satisfying experience for the guest. There was the creation of many unique props that served to unsettle and scare the guests. There were many dressed up in costume, dedicated to providing the best experience to the guests as they could. One entire side of Casa Loma had a large projection of various spooky motion pictures.

Overall, I was impressed at how all the sets, scenes, props, and actors created a sensory experience for the guest. You can see the creation and organization of all the various lighting effects and props to create displays I have never seen before. You can walk through the path and move the curtains out of the way, where someone in costume will jump out and scare you. When walking through the tunnels, you can smell the stale body odor in the air, which will disturb you. You will constantly hear eerie Halloween music, and the occasional scream from an event guest. I am not sure how I would explain the taste, but I guess you can drink a Halloween-themed shot at the bar halfway through the walk.

This is a good segue to talk about the bar that is set halfway through the walk. I did not have anything to drink at this bar because the alcohol was grossly expensive and the shot cups were very small. I think this was the scariest thing about the whole event. There was a "DJ" supposedly playing live music, but I only saw him on his phone the whole time we were in the bar.

Tickets for this event range from $40-50 depending on how early in the month you go, as well as whether you buy your ticket online or at the door. I think tickets are a bit expensive for what the event is, and you can argue that there is better value in going to the Halloween Haunt event at Canada's Wonderland or Screemers in Exhibition Place. I was also not scared at all throughout the walk. There were some unsettling things, but I did not feel outright scared. With all that said, I would still recommend this event to people who are currently thinking about going, based on the production value alone. Buy a ticket to support the hard work and effort created by everyone involved with the production of this event, as you will not be disappointed.
