Amalfi Coast Part 2: Exploring Amalfi and Ravello

This is the second part of my day trip through the Amalfi Coast. Part 1 is here.

Our next stop was the town of Amalfi, which shares the namesake with the coast that we happen to be on. While Positano had this quirky, bougie vibe to the town, Amalfi felt like a more bustling tourist town that was full of life.

There were many people on the beach enjoying themselves, as well as many vehicles passing through the town. The streets were full of tourists shopping and eating at the many restaurants. Our driver dropped us right by the beach, but we did not have the time to go take a dip in the water. I am standing at the bottom by the water and the town and surrounding mountains feel like they are on top of me.

One of the main attractions of the town of Amalfi is the Duomo di Amalfi, which is the main cathedral in the town. I did not go inside, but the outside looked striking with its facade. As I was walking through the streets, there were more statues, murals, and memorials that was worth checking out. Other than that, we walked down the main street in Amalfi where there were more restaurants and souvenir shops to check out.

We left the town of Amalfi for a short drive to the town of Ravello, but I managed to snag some decent pics of the coast from the car window.

Before we got to explore the town of Ravello, it was time for lunch. Our driver took us to a cliffside restaurant where I had the typical pasta and wine. However, the best part of the place we were at for lunch was that there were some incredible views of the area surrounding Ravello. These views were just as good as the viewpoint before entering Positano.

We were then able to explore the town of Ravello. Ravello was a quiet town, and there were a few restaurants and souvenir shops in the public square and general area.

I went for a walk through the narrow alleys of the town and I came across a cathedral that I was somehow able to enter and check out. These churches were unlike anything I have seen in Canada. There is so much more personality and history just oozing out of the building.

As our driver was taking us back to Sorrento, we made a brief stop in the village of Corbara where I could get a shot of Mount Vesuvius towering over the Napoli suburbs.

This concludes my day trip to the Amalfi Coast. This was an unforgettable experience and I could not believe that I was able to go to this part of the world.
