All About The Views In The Bahamas

Our last stop on our cruise on-board the MSC Seaside is Nassau, Bahamas. Nassau is a popular port where many cruise ships dock, and so the town regularly entertains many tourists on a daily basis. I have not been to the Bahamas since I was a high school student, and frankly, I cannot remember what I did the last time I was here. So, this felt like a brand new experience for me.

After disembarking, we met up with our taxi drivers (who were very nice, by the way), and we set off to our first destination. We stopped off at a rum cake factory, to experience the making of rum cake (a popular Caribbean dessert). We were able to enter the factory and taste a sample of the rum cake. There were many flavors (including Pina-colada and pecan), but I went with the original recipe rum cake, which tasted moist and boozy. Of course, you were able to purchase rum cakes for personal consumption as well.

I also purchased a bottle of the local beer of the Bahamas: Kalik. It was not very tasty.

After the rum cake shop, we went up to Fort Fincastle, an 18th century built fort that overlooks Nassau and the surrounding area. It was only $3 USD to enter the fort, so I paid the fee and entered the fort. It was not a very large fort at all. Little rooms used to be prison cells, but these rooms now have information displays about the fort. I walked right up to the top of the fort, and I was impressed with the area surrounding the fort that I was able to see. From my vantage point, I could see the Atlantis resort and Paradise Island, our MSC ship, and the entire town of Nassau. The views were quite breathtaking.

After our time at the fort, we went down to a seaside restaurant under the bridge to Paradise Island to try some local delicacies, including conch fritters and other seafood. The restaurant's sitting area was also a great lookout spot for the town of Nassau, and the water this restaurant was sitting on.

After the lunch, we went down the road to Cable Beach. Cable Beach is a beautiful bay with white sands that surround your feet when you step on it, and crystal-clear blue water as far as the eye could see. I could not wait to jump in the ocean and just wade in the water until we had to leave. Some of us in our party went jet skiing and took a trip on the banana boat for a bit of water sports fun.

My day in the Bahamas had a bit of everything: attractions, food, drink, and a relaxing afternoon at the beach. To go with the excellent service provided by our taxi drivers, this was the most pleasant experience of all of our ports of call on the MSC Seaside.
