Mont-Tremblant: The Rest Of The Highlights

I have written my posts about going up to the summit to Mont-Tremblant, as well as experiencing Tonga Lumina. However, this is my post about the other things that were going on while staying at Mont-Tremblant. I stayed two nights at the 'Place St-Bernard' hotel in the middle of the Mont-Tremblant village.

The Mont-Tremblant village is a European-style district at the base of the mountain with numerous hotels, restaurants, and shops. From arriving at our hotel, I was surprised to see a seemingly large amount of people walking the main strip in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, but many were engaging in some kind of social distancing. I like the intimacy of the village and that all of the restaurants and shops were only steps away.

I will talk about the food I had while staying at the village. The first restaurant I went to is 'Le Petit Caribou’ where I had a four-blend grilled cheese sandwich with a tomato dip.

At 'Au Grain Du Cafe' (which is a quaint breakfast spot), I had a waffle and an iced latte in a large glass. The iced latte went down very well.

The last restaurant I went to during my stay was an Italian restaurant right across from our hotel. I had a veggie pizza doused with some spicy oil (olive oil with chili flakes soaked inside).

There was a stall at the village that sold maple taffy, which I never had before. After boiling to a specific temperature, there is a pouring of maple syrup onto a sheet of ice. As the maple syrup rapidly cools, the ice sticks to the syrup. You then stick a Popsicle stick into the ice and roll up the sticky syrup to create a wonderful sugary treat. I took a bite of the maple taffy and the chewiness of the taffy felt like my teeth were about to fall off. The taffy was still good, though.

The main strip of the Mont-Tremblant village was one big slope, so you would have to go either uphill or downhill in order to get to certain places. Thankfully, there is a gondola at the bottom of the slope that can take you up to the top of the slope (and vice versa) so you do not have to do all that walking uphill or downhill. The gondola itself moved faster than I thought it would be, and I had to hold onto the railing in order to stabilize myself.

There was a lake at the foot of the mountain with a small beach, which was nice for swimming.

When I went to Mont-Tremblant, the local casino was opening up to the public after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all casinos in the province. I went to go check out Casino Mont-Tremblant one evening, but entry to the casino is by appointment only. I did not know about the appointment policy until after I got to the casino, so I did not enter.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend going to Mont-Tremblant in the summer, as there is so much to experience and explore. If I were to come back again, I would like to experience more of the hiking and biking trails surrounding the mountain. Nevertheless, it was still a blessing to do some kind of travelling during these unprecedented times.
