Cultured Individual's Second-Half Recap of 2020 (And What To Expect For 2021)

My feeling towards 2020. RIP The Legend.

It is that bi-annual time of year again where I look at the posts I have written over the past six months. I was able to go on a mini-vacation, but I wrote about the usual things (such as video games) as well. Here are my highlights from the past six months.

The most memorable highlight for me was being able to go to Mont-Tremblant and Ottawa over the Civic Holiday long weekend. Particularly, I found the trip to Mont-Tremblant to be extra special for me because I have never been to Mont-Tremblant before. Overall, the trip was extra special for me because the COVID-19 pandemic has robbed everyone's ability to travel. Thankfully, there was a lull in daily-identified COVID-19 cases during the summer, so I was able to travel safely. All of my Mont-Tremblant posts, including reaching the top of the summit, as well as experiencing Tonga Lumina, are highlights. As for Ottawa, I would check out my Parliament Hill night walk, where I got some nice shots of the government building and the surrounding area.

The last six months presented a large personal change for me, as I have left my old job of five years to work for a new company. I talk about the things surrounding my job change in three separate posts. In my first post, I talk about the issues I was facing before leaving my old job. In my second post, I talk about the importance of keeping in contact with my old co-workers while working from home in my new job. Finally, in my third post, I talk about leaving my old job in the midst of challenging change for my old department and my other co-workers. The fact that I devoted so much time into creating these posts showed that I still think about this job change. I still do not feel completely settled in my new job, and I still think about how my old co-workers are doing.

On the video game front, I recommend my reviews on the original 3D Mario games that make up Super Mario 3D All Stars. I talk about why Super Mario 64 is one of the most important video games in history. I talk about Super Mario Sunshine, and although the game has its flaws, it should still be a celebrated Mario 3D platformer for the risks it took. Lastly, I talk about why Super Mario Galaxy is a masterpiece in level design, and actually gives a meaningful story. Another post to check out is my quick reviews of various Nintendo Switch games.

Other highlights of the last six months include writing about a Google Digital Garage course about 'Building Confidence Through Self-Promotion', writing a review of the 'All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur' TV series, and issuing a back-handed tribute to former Toronto FC head coach Greg Vanney.

The year 2021 feels like the biggest question mark yet. I know that I have a few games that I will be playing that I am hoping to write about in a post. These games include The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Other than that, I do not have much of an idea on what I will be doing for 2021. I am hoping to go on another vacation, but that is only if there is a successful managing of COVID-19 through social distancing and vaccinations. I do have some old pictures of Ottawa from 2017 that I may share on here for some posts.

Let us hope that 2021 turns out better than 2020.
